Frequently Asked Questions

Backflow Trouble-Shooting General

Commonly Asked General Questions:

Q
:  When should I have my irrigation system opened?

A:
To prevent unnecessary damage, it is important to wait until after the threat of deep freezing passes to open your irrigation ssytem for the season.  In our coverage area, we typically open irrigation systems in the months of April, May, and June.  As a courtesy, Sprinkler Doctor sends reminder postcards out to its clients each spring with scheduling announcements.

Q:  When should I have my irrigation system closed?

A:
One unexpected freeze can make all the difference between a costly, damaged system and an undamaged system.  For best service (and peace of mind), we suggest scheduling the shut down of your irrigation system as soon as summer's heat passes and you believe the need for frequent waterings to have passed.  In our coverage area, September is generally a good to have your system shut-down. However, Sprinkler Doctor does send out reminder postcards each fall to its clients; encouraging them to get this important service scheduled.

Q:  What is the most economic way to service my irrigation system?

A:
It is generally best to pay for multiple services in the form of a package rather than purchasing each service separately.  Sprinkler Doctor offers several service package plans that offer the core services at discounted rates.  Please refer to the "Service" section of this website or contact our office for details.

Q:  How do I protect my existing utilites before installing an irrigation system?

A:
Sprinkler Doctor considers locating and marking the utilities an important part of the irrigation installation process.  As a result, our professionals will pre-mark the utilites in your yard prior to installation of the new system in your yard.  This is a specialty service provided complimentary by Sprinkler Doctor when you select us as your irrigation installer.  This service is somewhat unique to Sprinkler Doctor as many of our competitors do not offer this service.

Q:  What should I look for in an Irrigation Contractor?

A:  It is important to contract an Irrigation Professional.  Unfortunately, not all irrigation companies operate by the same standards.  Follow this link for our tips on locating a professional irrigation contractor :  Why Hire a Professional?
